SEMESTER GIRL SCOUTS SUMMER BUILD AN ADVENTURE

Description

Costa Rica Outward Bound provides students age 17 and older with the opportunity to earn academic credit while exploring Central America.

We’ve specifically designed our semester courses to be different: from other outdoors programs, from traditional study abroad alternatives, and from any travel experience. Course options vary from those focused on personal development and growth to professional certification courses designed for outdoor industry hopefuls. Join us and see how much you can learn about yourself and the world around you with the tropical wilderness as your classroom.

Details

Semester courses range from 65-85 days and typically start in January or September/October. All courses are eligible for academic credit either through independent study or in partnership with Western State College of Colorado. Enroll with a friend and receive a 10% discount.

All semester programs include:

  • Whitewater rafting
  • Scuba diving certification
  • Community service
  • Backpacking with family homestays
  • Jungle waterfall rappel
  • American Red Cross First Aid & CPR certifications

Current girl scouts age 13 and older can participate in Costa Rica Outward Bound courses through the Girl Scouts of the USA destinations program.

Outward Bound inspires personal development and growth through wilderness-based adventure activities. Scouts learn about teamwork and leadership, boost their self-confidence, participate in meaningful service projects, learn new skills and make friends from all over. Girls are also exposed to Central American language and culture throughout their course experience.

Details

Girl Scouts courses are offered in the summer months, and for the first time in 2012, we are also offering a winter destination course! Scouts must apply to the GSUSA destinations program through their local councils.

All courses will challenge students through adventure and service activities:

  • Whitewater rafting

  • Community service (single & multi-day programs)
  • Scuba diving certification
  • Surfing

  • Zipline & canopy tour

Students age 14 and older experience one of the world’s most popular travel destinations as few tourists can.

Outward Bound inspires personal development and growth through wilderness-based adventure activities. Students learn about teamwork in the adrenaline-packed adventure of whitewater rafting; boost their self-confidence with the stomach-clenching waterfall rappel and test their tenacity through the constant challenge offered by the waves during a surf lesson. Students are also exposed to Central American language and culture throughout their course experience.

Details

Summer courses range from 15–30 days throughout late June–early August. Combine multiple courses to build a personalized itinerary and receive a 20% tuition discount.
