The good folks at the French American School of Puget Sounds have arrived and will be joining us for an exciting course that goes for an epic hike along with some rafting and surfing added in for good measure. This group of adventurous students will certainly be kept busy over the next week. Stay tuned for more about how their course went and how they handled rafting, surfing and of course hiking! Tomorrow is the famed Rio Pejibaye!
The University of Alabama is currently joining us for an exciting custom course this week. The group has headed out to the Talamanca region, in particular the village of Amubri. There the group will be working with local schools in a variety of capacities including helping with construction and painting, teaching special programs to the students, as well as donating supplies and materials for the school children. We’re also confident some pick up futbol games will be had. This great and motivated group of students will be in the region for a week, and we can’t wait to welcome them back and hear about their service!

Costa Rica Outward Bound recently hosted Girl Scout Troop 4006 for a week long trip which included a Volcano hike, a rafting day, a service project in the Talamanca region, as well as some time to explore the tree tops during a canopy zipline tour. This energetic group of girls truly had a great time, especially when we take a look at their pictures!
As many of our former students know, heading down the river in a ducky (inflatable kayak) is one of the most fun ways to enjoy the river. This is exactly what Communications Director Jeff Friend learned on a recent trip to the river with our Tropical Challenge and Leadership groups. Syracuse University was super busy on their spring break course here at Costa Rica Outward Bound. Dropping in on numerous beaches, a rafting trip, volcano hike, waterfall rappel and a canopy zipline tour for good measure. Take a look at some of the pictures captured while on course below!
As our spring break courses get underway, so do the trips to the beautiful volcanoes near our base at San Ramon de Tres Rios. Two of the office folks, Allison and Bethany, recently had the opportunity to tag along with Syracuse University to Volcan Irazu and grabbed some awesome pictures. In addition to the volcano, the group headed to some local ruins, as well as the famed Basilica in Cartago. However along with some great pictures, the ladies also brought back some awesome sunburns. Turns out being above the clouds means there’s more sun as well.
The Leadership Semester Course has returned from their time at the beach, where they were taking part in some service projects as well as learning to surf. Next up for them is a trip to the river for some whitewater rafting. Take a look at some of their shots from the Central Pacific Coast!
The Tropical Challenge Course is keeping busy with a number of activities in and around the base here in San Ramon de Tres Rios. Activities the group is tackling include a trip to the climbing wall at the local Girl/Boy Scout reservation, a rock climbing trip in the lush Orosi Valley, as well as a service project at the Reserva Coyotes. The Leadership and Tropical Challenge groups are back from their trip to Bocas del Toro, Panama where they were all working on their Scuba certification. Take a look at some of their pictures below!
With the groups now separated again, the Tropical Challenge folks are doing some climbing and service projects, and the Leadership students are headed out to their surfing phase!
