Tuition & Fees

Open Enrollment Courses

Costa Rica Outward Bound tuition includes all room and board, technical gear, instruction and course transportation necessary for our Summer, Girl Scouts and Semester courses. Please visit the individual course pages to view current tuition costs per course. Airfare to/from Costa Rica is never included in the listed tuition cost, nor are personal equipment (including surfboards) and supplies.

Full payment of course tuition is due 30 days prior to course start. If reservations are made less than 30 days prior to the course start date, full payment is due immediately.

Custom Courses

All items included in custom course tuition will be specified during the planning process. Please speak with your course administrator or email custom@crrobs.org with questions.

Deposits

We require a deposit to reserve a student’s space on course. Note that the deposit is allocated towards the full course tuition, it is not an extra fee.

The following amounts are required per student for a course reservation:

  • $100 for Girl Scouts Destinations courses
  • $200 for Summer courses
  • $500 for Semester courses and for Summer combo courses

Payment Methods

Payments can be made with a Visa credit card, personal check, cashiers check or by wire transfer. We do not accept money orders.

Credit Card

Costa Rica Outward Bound only accepts Visa credit card payments. For payments over US$500, you must also provide a copy of your credit card (front and back), as well as a copy of a government-issued photo identification for the cardholder. This is required by our financial institution to process payment and will be kept confidential.

Please print out and sign the form, then either scan and email it to enrollment@crrobs.org or fax it to 1-866-374-2483.

Checks

We only accept personal or cashier checks. We do not accept money orders.

All checks must be in U.S. dollars and issued by or payable through a U.S. bank. Checks must be mailed 60 days prior to course start date in order to ensure timely delivery by mail.

Provide the enclosed instructions to your bank and then scan the form and email it to enrollment@crrobs.org or fax it to 1-866-374-2483.

Course Cancellation Policy:

If you cancel a course reservation prior to the course start date, the following schedule applies:

  • 60+ days prior: All tuition/fees paid are refundable less a $100 application-processing fee per person per individual course that is transferable to another course within one year of the cancelled course start date.
  • 30-59 days prior: All tuition/fees paid are refundable less the $200 deposit ($500 for semester students) per person per individual course that is transferable to another course within one year of the cancelled course start date.
  • Fewer than 30 days: All tuition/fees paid are non-refundable but are transferable to another course within one year of the cancelled course start date.

Note: Costa Rica Outward Bound reserves the right to cancel any scheduled course UP TO 31 DAYS PRIOR to the course starting date. This would normally be done for reasons of low participation or certain programming factors. This decision would be announced no less than 31 days prior to the course starting date and participants would be advised either via telephone or email. In this case, participants would be allowed to apply their tuition towards any other Costa Rica Outward Bound course within one calendar year or receive a full cash refund. Costa Rica Outward Bound is not responsible for reimbursing any pre-arranged travel costs.

Expulsion & Voluntary Withdrawal Policy:

Costa Rica Outward Bound is not a reformatory school and our staff members are not police officers. We reserve the right to remove participants who present a danger to him/herself, the environment, or other participants on course. We require that ALL students are familiar with our Code of Conduct prior to starting their course; violations to the Code of Conduct are grounds for removal from course.

Note: Participants who are expelled from the course or voluntarily leave the course for personal reasons do not receive a refund and are responsible for evacuation fees.

Medical Withdrawal Policy:

Students with a legitimate medical/emotional situation will receive pro-rated course credit valid for one year after the original course start date. A signed doctor’s note detailing the condition is required.
