Inspiring Athletes

Here at Outward Bound Costa Rica we’re always excited to hear stories about people pushing their limits, inspiring others and just generally being awesome. Check out some of the people that have been catching our attention in the endurance world lately…

Sixty-two year old endurance swimmer Diana Nyad set out last Friday on her fourth attempt to swim from Havana, Cuba to the Florida Keys. Sadly, after jellyfish stings and a storm blowing in, Nyad ended what she says will be her final attempt. Nonetheless, we can’t help but admire her drive and be inspired by all her previous accomplishments. Read more about Nyad here.

Costa Rican Olympic Triathlete Leo Chacon impressed us not only with his athleticism and determination, but by being perhaps the classiest guy on the planet. Read about the message Chacon sent to Canadian Triathlete Simon Whitfield after the race in which Whitfield caused Chacon to take a spill during the bike portion.

Over the years we’ve heard stories of people like Dick Hoyt and Rick van Beek who have participated in road races and triathlons with their children who would be unable to do so alone. Stories like this are certainly inspiring but leave some thinking, “What can I do?”  Ronald Robb and myTeam Triumph have the answer.

Tell us who inspires you!
