Top Cookie Seller in Colorado funds 2 CRROBS Courses

Every student has a different story about how they finance their CRROBS experience. Some students fundraise, others get jobs, and some get scholarships. Jamie Sparks, as well as many of our other Girl Scout participants, sold cookies.

Jamie, an alumna of both Girl Scouts Catching Waves and Girl Scouts Rainforest, River, & Reef, funded her courses through cookie sales. Jamie Sparks is currently on a 4 year streak as the top cookie seller in Colorado. This year she sold a staggering 5,250 boxes of cookies.

Her secret? Jamie says it’s “not being shy. You have to ask everybody.” Jamie sold door-to-door, as well as booths in local supermarkets. During one busy month, she went out for 6 hours each Saturday and Sunday, in addition to weeknights spent at booths.

Every year, Jamie looks at the different Girl Scouts Destination offerings to decide which trip she wants to do, and how many cookies she’ll need to sell. Jamie chose CRROBS because she wanted to go out of the country and learn about new sports like surfing, as well as experience a different culture. Jamie only needed to sell 3,000 boxes to pay for her two courses at CRROBS. With the rest of her earnings, Jamie donated money to KPC Kids' Place, a local crisis center, and spent 70 hours building them a new shed.
