Verde Costa Rica
By Kendra Obom

In a bed of green

Of rain

And rock,

On rivers, in canyons,

On sandy beaches of rivers and oceans

Some hike, climb, dive, and explore

This is where you sleep, eat and learn

What you find when you go looking here

Is yourself

Is Life

What you take away from it is Your Life

Your decisions

I'll not want to go home

For I have found it

I've found myself stripped

Gone from me are the institutions that

Build me up and define me

Run this world and blind me

Amongst the mud and rocks

The branches and currents

The breeze

The rain

The rapids

Instinctually my most basic self comes to me

Scrubbing clothes and pots

Cooking and eating and sharing

Now we see how things are

What is necessary to keep you, preserve you, improve you and forward your journey

Floating rivers

Watching your own thoughts pass you by

Where are you going?

Time passes differently

With quality

Importance

My home, I carry with me,

This structure of strength, courage and curiosity

I've found direction

And I'm excited to see where I'm going
