Overview School Health Assistant Waterloo Schools - Waterloo, IA Part-time, Daytime Shift Under general supervision, oversees the workflow of day-to-day duties in the school health office. Performs services as assigned by the school's registered nurse and in accordance with written policies and department procedures. Responsibilities will vary according to the school health program. This role requires adaptability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to quickly integrate into different teams and workflows.

Responsibilities - Provides support to school Nurses across various schools within
the district. - Flexibility to work different shifts and adapt to changing schedules.
- Serves as the secondary point of contact for students needing
health assistance and maintains good working relationships with
students, parents, staff members and administration in each
building. - Support the Health office by working collaboratively with the
building Nurse to stay focused and efficient on tasks as these may
vary by school. - Provides care to students by taking vital readings as delegated,
preforming CPR/First Aid, diabetic testing as delegated, and
reporting illnesses and injuries to school nurse as warranted. - Assists school nurse with administering medication to students as
delegated and in accordance with written policy and department
procedure. - Prepares and/or performs health screenings as assigned by
building Nurse. - Assist the Nurse in maintaining student immunization and health
records, along with class lists.
Qualifications Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- Prior experience working with children
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to use usual and customary equipment to perform the essential functions of the
position.
Credentials:
- Must completed Iowa Department of Education requirements on Medication Administration upon hire
- Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
